8th Liburnia Jazz Festival
The sound of jazz in Opatija
This year's, 8th edition of the Liburnia Jazz Festival in Opatija will include around twenty concerts on eight stages in the town and the promotion of the new album by Eliane Elias, one of the world's greatest jazz piano players.
In the period between the 4th and 6th of July, Opatija will host the 8th Liburnia Jazz Festival that will include numerous jazz performances by some of the world's greatest jazz musicians on various stages, squares, and streets around the town. The festival will include some twenty concerts on eight stages in the town, as well as a concert by Eliane Elias, one of the greatest contemporary jazz piano players. She will promote her new album “Something for you: Eliane Elias Sings and Plays Bill Evans”, which was chosen as the best vocal album of the year in Japan, and highly rated in the US and French charts. This diva of Brazilian music will be accompanied by excellent musicians – Marc Johnson on the contrabass and Adam Nussbaum on the drums.
In addition to the stages all over the town, jazz musicians will be playing on the top of the Jazz Bus, the tourist double-decker that operates between Opatija and Rijeka. Jazz lovers will also have the chance to enjoy music on the Jazz Boat that will operate between Opatija and Mošćenička Draga, thus bringing jazz to all the passengers and music lovers while travelling to or from Opatija back to their hotels.
