Visitors to the island of Lošinj and some of the neighbouring islands can now take their dogs with them to eight beaches that were specially equipped to meet the needs of pets and their owners.
Starting from this bathing season, dog owners will be allowed to take their pets with them to eight beaches in the Lošinj island group. The beaches will have signs informing visitors about pets being allowed to the beach and plastic bag dispensers, while showers for pets should be installed next year. This decision has been made to meet the needs of the guests who take their pets with them on holidays, but were until now not allowed to take them to the beaches because there were no necessary facilities. Dog beaches are now available on the islands of Susak, Ilovik, and Unije, and in Veli Lošinj, Nerezine, Artatore, Mali Lošinj (in the area of Sunčana uvala between the cove of Veli Zal and Lanterna) and in Zagazine (in the Bojčić area).
Pet owners will certainly be very pleased with this decision, particularly if we consider the fact that until now the lack of dog beaches was often stated as the biggest disadvantage of the local tourism.
