Summer celebrating the 100th anniversary of welcoming visitors
Punat on the island of Krk is a holiday resort with a long tradition, particularly popular among yachtsmen, but also among many other visitors who come here for the clean sea, high-quality services and interesting excursions.
The 100th anniversary of tourism in Punat on the island of Krk will be celebrated by numerous events. The first issue of a municipal newspaper dedicated to this anniversary should be published by the beginning of August, and at the end of the month, on the 30th of August, there will be a formal ceremony and an open-air festival. The celebration will also include the presentation of the new image brochure of Punat and an exhibition of pupils' art works.
Hotels in Punat dispose of 700 beds, its campsites can provide accommodation for up to 5000 people, and private houses for further 2800 visitors. The Marina Punat, which was founded in 1964 and is today Croatia's oldest marina, has 800 berths on 11 walkway for vessels up to 45 metres, and further 400 places on dry land. Thanks to its excellent equipment, first class service and clean sea – for which it was awarded the European Blue Flag once more this year – this marina was repeatedly declared the best in Croatia.
Each year, Punat is visited by as many as 100,000 guests who stay here six days on average.
In addition to other sites of interest, visitors to Punat have the unique possibility to visit the small island of Košljun, which is located only 750 metres off Punat. Known for its Franciscan monastery, which was declared a monument of culture, this islet continues attracting visitors also for its museum with ethnographic collection, two churches and a rich cultural and historical heritage.
