New stars in the Croatian Walk of Fame
The Croatian Walk of Fame, located along Opatija’s coastal promenade in Slatina, has recently received two new marble stars – one for the famous football coach Miroslav Ćiro Blažević, and the other dedicated posthumously to the renowned Croatian composer Zdenko Runjić. The Croatian Walk of Fame now contains thirty stars.
“It is a great honour to be a laureate of the Croatian Walk of Fame, in the company of such extraordinary people” – said Miroslav Ćiro Blažević on the occasion of the star unveiling ceremony. He is a football coach who, among other successes, lead the Croatian national football team to the third place on the Football World Cup in France.
Croatian composer and musician Zdenko Runjić obtained his star in the Croatian Walk of Fame posthumously as the author of some of the most memorable Croatian songs of all times.
Thirty stars in the Croatian Walk of Fame – a project that was started in 2008 – are a reminder of many living and late Croatian scientists, writers, actors, singers, sportsmen and other people who made a great contribution in their fields of work and also gained popularity among people who gave their votes through some Croatian media.
