Rijeka-Budapest in less than 5 hours

Completion of the Zagreb-Rijeka motorway means that these two cities are now only one hour and fifteen minutes apart. The road also brings Gorski kotar closer to the sea, and what this means for Kvarner in terms of accessibility is perfectly illustrated by the following example: Budapest and Rijeka are now less than five hours away by car!

The opening of the last remaining sections Oštrovica – Vrata and Kupjak – Stara Sušica in the overall length of 14.5 kilometres marked the completion of the Zagreb – Rijeka motorway. The motorway has a total length of 146.5 kilometres and is particularly important for tourism, because it lies on the 5b corridor that leads from Rijeka over Zagreb to Goričan on the Croatian-Hungarian border and further to Budapest. The section that connects the Goričan border checkpoint on the Croatian side and Letenye on the Hungarian side was also opened, as well as the bridge over River Mura, which marked the completion of the motorway between Rijeka and Budapest.

The total length of this motorway in Croatia is 263.7 kilometres, and the Hungarian part, where the construction was also very intense, is 232.5 kilometres long. From now on, you can reach Rijeka from Budapest via Zagreb in less than five hours by car.
The motorway toll for cars between Rijeka and Zagreb is 60 Kuna.
This motorway includes 13 tunnels with a total length of 10.3 kilometres, six bridges with a total length of 1.7 kilometres, and 24 viaducts with a total length of 10.1 kilometres, as well as 15 service areas.
