55 hotels open for holidays

During the coming Christmas and New Year holidays, 55 hotels will be open in the Kvarner region. In addition to domestic visitors, most guests are expected from Italy, Germany, Slovenia and Austria.

According to the results of a survey that was conducted by the Kvarner County Tourism Office and its regional tourism offices, approximately 11,700 guests are expected to visit the region during Christmas and New Year holidays. Visitors can choose from 55 hotels that will remain open in that period, or stay in private accommodation. In addition to New Year's Eve parties in hotels, the towns of Opatija, Rijeka, Krk, Mali Lošinj, Rab and Fužine will organise open-air celebrations on town squares. The survey refers to the period between the 20th and the 31st of December.
Most visitors are expected to stay on the Opatija Riviera, where sixteen hotels will remain open during the holidays. Apart from Croatia, most guests will be arriving from Italy, Germany, Slovenia and Austria. Opatija awaits them with a special programme entitled Advent in Opatija, which will include various cultural and entertainment events to take place at the square in front of the Opatija town market. There you can taste mulled wine, traditional fritters or treat yourself to a free portion of fried sardines. This year's Advent in Opatija includes a special programme entitled Visiting Opatija with guest performances by cultural societies and singing groups from Bakar, Matulji and Kastav, as well as film screenings. The open-air New Year's Eve party entitled Goodbye, Old Year will include performances by the Angels and Kad bih bio Bijelo dugme (Alen, Željko and Tifa) bands.
Apart from hotels in Opatija, guests staying on the Opatija Riviera can choose from seven hotels that will be open in Lovran, or private accommodation in Matulji.
The town of Rijeka is also preparing an eventful programme for Christmas and the New Year, including the Christmas in the old Town festival, a little "tourist train" for the youngest ones, skating rink at the Karolina Riječka pier, open-air New Year's Eve party on the Korzo town promenade, and a series of other events. Visitors in Rijeka will have four hotels at their disposal. Musical guests at the New Year's open-air party at Korzo promenade are Gibonni and Hladno pivo. Kastav and Kostrena expect a smaller number of visitors, and six hotels will be open on the Crikvenica Riviera: three in the town of Crikvenica, and three in Selce, where on the 24th of December the local tourism office organises a party for the visitors with fish meals and wine on the town's main square.
The Novi Vinodolski Riviera awaits visitors with one hotel and several places available in private accommodation. One hotel will be opened in the Municipality of Vinodol too. As far as Kvarner islands are concerned, the island of Krk awaits visitors with one hotel in Malinska and two hotels in the town of Krk, and one hotel will be open in the town of Rab on the island of Rab. Open-air New Year's Eve party on the Vela placa square in the town of Krk will include performances by Bastor and Quadrill music bands, and the town of Rabu organises an musical and entertainment programme on the Municipium Arba square entitled VIG Đambrli. Two hotels await visitors on the island of Cres, and as many as seven hotels will be opened on the island of Lošinj. New Year's Eve party on Mali Lošinj's town square will include performances by Joso Butorac and Vivak music band. Some visitors will spend their holidays in Gorski kotar – in Čabar, Delnice, Fužine, Ravna Gora, Skrad and Brod Moravice, staying in local hotels and private houses. Fužine is one of six Kvarner towns that organise open-air New Year's Eve parties for their inhabitants and guests.
