Kvarner in 2009
Priorities: quality and variety of services

Visitors that have been faithful to Kvarner for years – and there are many – will definitely notice quality improvements and further development of tourist services here in 2009. After all, these are the main goals of the region's tourism policy for the year 2009, which should make Kvarner the ideal venue for all those seeking wellbeing.

The Kvarner County Tourism Office estimates that in 2009 the region will be visited by more than 2.2 million visitors, which is a figure approximately equal to the last year's results. It is also expected to repeat the last year's figure of 11.25 million overnight stays. Concerning the economic recession and the effects it will probably have on tourism, these expectations are considered to be real. Moreover, tourism professionals are doing their best to further improve the already high quality of their services in 2009. The main goals for this year, defined in the Kvarner County Tourism Office programme for 2009, include establishing Kvarner as a recognisable brand, improving the destination's competitiveness and quality, as well as extending the tourist season to make it last all year. Further goals include opening up new markets and new market segments, protecting the destination's numerous competitive advantages etc.
Kvarner is a destination recognised for its long tradition in tourism, wonderful and varied nature, wide range of services and amenities, unique combination of islands, coasts and highlands, indigenous gastronomy and diverse events that take place here. By synergising the activities of individual tourism offices and tourist agencies, hotels and all other stakeholders offering accommodation and tourist services, the year 2009 will be dedicated to creating services that will guarantee enjoyment, entertainment, recreation and relaxation for the visitors.
