For all tastes and generations

There are but a few destinations where visitors can swim in the sea, sunbathe or try some water sports and then enjoy the forest shade – all in one day! But Kvarner is one of them: in Gorski kotar, its wooded hinterland, with some luck you can even spot a deer! If you travel for business, organise congresses, love unspoiled nature, enjoy skiing, swimming, hiking or exploring cultural sites – Kvarner is the right place for you!

No matter which season you choose to visit Kvarner, you can rest assured that here you will find quality accommodation and a variety of services and amenities tailored to meet the demands of guests with different tastes and belonging to various generations. One of the priorities of the region's tourism policy for 2009 is to further develop and improve these services. Holiday resorts with a long tradition such as Opatija, Mali Lošinj, Rab, Crikvenica, Novi Vinodolski, Baška, Malinska, Krk, or Punat, continue to attract visitors with special interests in particular fields. They will have the opportunity to see for themselves the region's advantages when it comes to technical and organisational facilities for congresses and other types of business meetings. Diverse wellness services, based on the region's long tradition, expert knowledge and natural advantages, continue to attract visitors who consider holidays as the chance to take care about their health, physical shape and well-cared-for look. In addition, Kvarner is the perfect destination for yachtsmen, divers, cyclists, and other sports enthusiasts, but also for all those interested in exploring the region's history, monuments, and customs that are of a great importance not only for the local and Croatian history, but also for the European culture and history in general. Although more than 60 percent of Kvarner's tourism is realised in summer, this region is the ideal destination for all seasons. One of the reasons for that is the fact that Kvarner is easily accessible by road, by air and by train. After all, the name Kvarner, which comes from the word Qua(te)rnarius and in the language of ancient Romans (who are believed to have given the name to this unique region) means "the four points of the compass", suggests that Kvarner is the place where these four points meet. This is why Kvarner is the ideal destination for all those looking for a short break on which they can enjoy the region's unique ambience, high-quality services, superb tastes, scents and colours, and find wellbeing for body and soul.
