Entente Florale Europe 2008
Novi Vinodolski joins the club of Europe’s most beautiful towns
The renowned Kvarner holiday resort Novi Vinodolski has been officially nominated for the prestigious Entente Florale Europe 2008 award…
In 2007, Primošten won the gold medal in the village category, and Biograd na moru was awarded the silver medal in the town category. Now nominations are being made for the next competition – Entente Florale 2008. The Croatian entrant is the renowned Kvarner holiday resort Novi Vinodolski, so far the only official candidate for next year’s award and thus one of the 12 most beautiful towns in Europe.
The decision to nominate Novi Vinodolski for the Entente Florale Europe 2008 award was made by members of the Croatian Landscape Association (KEA/EFE-CRO), and the awards will be announced on the 19th of September 2008 in Split.
The prestigious Entente Florale Europe award is presented by the European Association of Flowers and Landscape, which is based in Brussels. Each year, more than 20,000 European towns and villages enter the competition.
The Entente Florale Europe award not only rewards the best horticultural achievements of holiday resorts but also encourages the overall sustainable development of towns and villages.
A special commission, to visit Novi Vinodolski in June 2008, will present its assessment according to certain criteria including ecology, cleanliness, horticulture and how happy the local inhabitants are with their town.
By entering the elite club of the 12 most beautiful European towns, Novi Vinodolski has already made a great achievement, which will definitely add to the festive atmosphere in the town, because next year this renowned Kvarner destination celebrates 130 years of tourism!
