Rijeka Theatre in March
Offer that caters for all tastes

The Ivan pl. Zajc Croatian National Theatre, one of Croatia's four national theatres, continues to attract Rijeka's inhabitants and visitors with interesting programmes. The fine building of the Rijeka Theatre was built back in 1885 and is the oldest theatre in Rijeka. Each year, the programme is enriched with interesting new plays combining a variety of artistic approaches.

The Rijeka national theatre, which hosted performances by numerous drama, opera and ballet artists from Croatia and abroad during more than 120 years of eventful history, has prepared very interesting programme in March. Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata will be staged four times, starting on the 12th of March. The repertoire also includes Sergei Prokofiev's ballet Romeo and Juliet. On the 28th of March there will be the premiere of the drama "Crnac" by the contemporary Croatian writer Tatjana Gromača. The Ivan pl. Zajc Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka also includes the Italian Drama, which stages performances in Italian language.

Another Rijeka's theatre, Ri teatar, founded in 2000, has also prepared an interesting programme. This theatre can proudly look back at about forty premieres for adults and children, 250 guest performances in Croatia and Italy, and participation on several festivals, on which it won three awards. Concerning the repertoire for March, let us just mention that there will be several cabaret performances, an experimental performance entitled "Tranquillo", and much more. Not to forget the Town Puppet Theatre Rijeka, which is very popular among children.

In addition, there are other theatres with interesting theatre and musical programmes. Many of them will be performed in the open air throughout the town of Rijeka in summer.
