Opening of the multipurpose hall
Do you dance on ice? Do you play hockey? Or do you prefer sports where you cannot slip, at least not literally? If you are also a fan of wonderful wooded landscapes, fresh air and healthy food, we have some advice for you: come to Delnice! But don't forget your swimsuit either: in addition to the public swimming pool in Delnice, and the River Kupa, the seaside is also very near!
The new DelnICE multipurpose sports and tourism hall was opened in Delnice, a renowned holiday resort in Gorski kotar, in mid-March. The total investment amounts to 2.7 million euros, and the money was provided by the European Union, County of Primorje-Gorski kotar, and the Town of Delnice. Project partners were the Runolist Sports Centre and the Delnice Tourism Office.
The DelnICE multipurpose sports and tourism hall is a part of the Runolist Sports Centre and includes facilities for ice skating and hockey on an area of 1,800 square metres. The ice hall will be open from the beginning of November to the end of May, and from June to the end of October the hall will be used for indoor sports such as basketball, football, volleyball, handball, tennis, inline skating etc. This hall is also suitable for the organisation of musical events, theatre performances, film screenings, promotions and presentations, as well as for various tourism-oriented activities, such as fairs, exhibitions, presentations etc.
In addition to this multipurpose hall – located on an attractive position surrounded by the Japlenški vrh Forest Park, the Deer Park and the King Tomislav Park – Delnice also boosts other sports facilities, including a 25-metre swimming pool. However, this is not the only reason for taking a swimsuit with you: here you can also swim in the rivers of Gorski kotar, but also remember that the sea is less than half an hour's drive away!
Delnice is located at an elevation of 698 metres above sea level, which gives it the status of the highest town in Croatia. This is the favourite destination for ecologically thinking nature lovers and sportsmen who come here for training in higher altitudes, and also all those who prefer activity holidays including canoeing, kayaking, rafting, angling, or swimming in River Kupa.
