Easter Break Marks a Successful Start of the Season
Better than Expected!
The Easter holidays provided Kvarner's tourist professionals with the first opportunity to gauge the tourism market demand and gave them every reason to be satisfied: the statistical data indicate a figure of almost 20 thousand visitors, 68 percent more than Easter last year. Even the most optimistic expectations were surpassed!
As many as 93 accommodation facilities opened their doors to visitors during this year's Easter break (last year, Easter fell three weeks earlier and only approximately 70 facilities were open). Most guests stayed in hotels, small family hotels, guesthouses and some even at campsites. Following the well established tradition, most visitors chose Opatija and other resorts along the Riviera of Opatija; these were followed in popularity by the islands of Krk and Lošinj, the Crikvenica Riviera, the area of Rijeka, the island of Rab, the Novi Vinodolski Riviera and the island of Cres. Last, but certainly not least, was the increasingly trendy continental part of the region – Gorski Kotar. As in the past, most visitors came from Germany, Italy and Austria; the number of Croatian visitors was noted to be on the rise.
It is particularly interesting to draw a parallel between this year's Easter break figures and the comparable figures for the year 2007, when Easter fell almost at the same time: this year, the number of Easter holiday tourists and overnights was strikingly 21 per cent higher than two years ago!
