16th International Small Scenes Theatre Festival Rijeka
Modern performing arts without frontiers

Modern performing arts will rule the Rijeka cultural scene from the 3rd to the 11th of May. In this period, Rijeka will host the 16th International Small Scenes Theatre Festival, including performances by theatre artists from Croatia(more)

The Rijeka International Small Scenes Theatre Festival was started back in 1994 as the Croatian Small Scenes Festival. From the very beginning, this festival included the best and most progressive chamber theatre performances produced by institutional and independent theatres. Since 1999, the festival became international, but has always remained faithful to the original idea: contemporary expression, first-class acting, and performances that enable direct contact between the performers and the audience. The festival has a competitive character and a clearly defined concept, and the performances are always followed by interesting discussions.
This year's Rijeka International Small Scenes Theatre Festival will be opened by the Yugoslav Drama Theatre (Belgrade), after which follow the performances by the Ivan pl. Zajc Croatian National Theatre (Rijeka), National Theatre in Belgrade, HKD Theatre (Rijeka), Split Summer Festival Drama Ensemble, Oskaras Koršunovas Theatre Vilnius from Lithuania, the Crystal Cube of Serenity (Sisak Town Theatre), Volksbuehne (Berlin), Zagreb Youth Theatre, and Bela Pinter Company from Budapest.
The Festival is organised by its founders, the City of Rijeka and the HKD Theatre.
