6th Rijeka Summer Nights

A period when the town is the focus of various cultural events
The Rijeka Summer Nights Festival will take place for the sixth time in the period from the 30th of June to the 23rd of July and includes 24 programmes at 13 different locations across the town.

The first performance within this year’s Rijeka Summer Nights Festival is “From Prometheus to Galileo” by the French troupe Ephemere. The central event of the festival is the concert by the jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval; the musical programme will also include performances by Alexander Balanescu and the Tolzer Knabenchor boys choir. Another theatrical performance particularly worth mentioning is Josef Nadj’s “Sho-bo-gen-zo”. The Rijeka Summer Nights Festival will also include two premieres. The Croatian Drama Ensemble will perform Molière’s The Miser in the area of the 3. maj shipyard, directed by Oliver Frljić. The second premiere is called “The League of Time”, a co-production by BADco, HNK Ivan pl. Zajc and Drugo more, which will be staged in Rijeka’s Customs Zone. This performance was ordered by the Black/North SEAS platform, Intercult initiative from Sweden, and supported by the Culture of the European Union programme 2007-2013.
For those who will attend the Rijeka Summer Nights Festival for the first time, also interesting is the repeat programme, which will include some of the most successful performances from previous seasons, such as “Scents, gold and incense” and “Lukrecija o’ bimo rekli požeruh”, and the opera “Tosca”, a spectacle that is staged at three different locations in Rijeka starting at different times of the day.
