Events and attractions for a longer stay

While European and worldwide tourism figures are lower than in previous years, the results for the first six months for Kvarner give reason for relative optimism. This region is still the destination of choice for many visitors…

The advantages of Kvarner – closeness to its target markets, attractiveness and accessibility of the region, the quality and diversity of its tourism offer – continue to attract many visitors to the area. So far this year up to the end of June, Kvarner has been visited by as many as 619,000 visitors, who realised almost 2.5 million overnight stays, which is a 2% decrease in the number of arrivals and a 3% decrease in the number of overnights compared to the same period in 2008. It is interesting to note that in June, despite the fact that there were 2% fewer visitors than June last year, the number of overnights has still increased (index 101).
In the first six months of the year, Kvarner was visited by more than 477,000 foreign and almost 142,000 domestic visitors, which means that foreign visitors make up more than 82% of arrivals and overnights. Most visitors traditionally come from German, followed by those from Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Hungary and other countries. It is interesting to mention that this year is characterised by an increased number of visitors from several countries, and the amount of overnights indicates that they also stay for a longer period of time. This trend is the result of the quality and the variety of the Kvarner's tourism offer and numerous interesting events that make your stay on Kvarner's shores, islands and highlands even more attractive.
