The first Skydive Photo Contest
Mali Lošinj will definitely feature in the history of a new competition, the world's first Skydive Photo Contest, a contest of skydiving photographs and video, taken both in the air and from the ground.
The theme of the first Skydive Photo contest, which took place from the 11th to the 24th of June 2009, was parachuting on the island of Lošinj. The winners of the competition were David Curkan from Rijeka in the aerial photograph category, Željko Opačić from Zagreb in the ground photograph category, and Dimitrije Dadić from Zrenjanin in Serbia for the best video.
It is interesting to mention that the parachutists jumped from an altitude of 4,000 metres, performing free and tandem jumps, as well as 60-second free falls which, thanks to the work of skilled photographers and video artists, have now been recorded for the future. The success of the first Skydive Photo Contest suggests that this will now become a traditional event.
