A central ceremony to mark the first century of tourism will take place in September

The holiday resort of Malinska, located in the north-west of the island of Krk, will celebrate its one hundredth anniversary of tourism with numerous events that will create a specific atmosphere in this resort – for you can only celebrate your first century of tourism once…

The holiday resort of Malinska on the island of Krk always has a packed calendar of cultural events and entertainment programmes. This year the list is even longer than usually, for Malinska is now celebrating an important anniversary – one hundred years since the foundation of the Association for Beautification of Malinska, which is now officially regarded as the beginning of tourism. The visitors to the area can choose from a wide range of concerts, exhibitions and folklore performances on town squares, in the monasteries and galleries, designed to make their stay even more attractive. The central event to mark this important anniversary will take place on the 18th of September with a ceremonial meeting, a varied entertainment programme and the presentation of a new film about Malinska. The three-day programme will also include the presentation of the traditional Krk cuisine, and the visitors will of course have the chance to sample some of the local specialities. Not to forget performances by various musicians.
The Voljenoj vali book about the history of tourism in Malinska by Milan Radić, published by the Municipality of Malinska–Dubašnica and the Malinska Tourism Office, gives an interesting account of the long history and the development of tourism in the area. The book also describes the actual tourism offer in this renowned holiday resort on the island of Krk.
