The town of Rijeka, an attractive tourist destination with numerous monuments and a packed cultural programme all year round, continues to offer visitors a wide range of concerts, exhibitions, theatrical performances, sports competitions in August and September… A range of choices that will surely cater for all tastes!

The Summer on Trsat (Ljeto na Gradini) series of cultural events started on the 22nd of June and will continue until the 18th of September. On the 13th of August, the famous Croatian singer Tereza Kesovija will give a concert entitled "Olympia on Trsat" with the same programme that she performed in Olympia in Paris. Ten days later, a renowned actor and singer Rade Šerbedžija and Miroslav Tadić on baritone guitar will give a concert under the title "I have a song for you". A concert by the Cambi cultural-artistic association is scheduled for the 27th of August. All the mentioned concerts are part of the 4th Summer on Trsat festival, however the following two are independent projects. On the occasion of the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, members of the Croatian Musical Union Rijeka will give a concert in the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the 14th of August. On the feast day, the 15th of August, there will be an entertainment-musical programme organised by the Croatian Musical Union.
For those who decide to visit Rijeka in September, we recommend the concert by the popular band from Split, TBF (The Beat Fleet), on the 5th of September in Trsat, and the concert by the famous drummer from Rijeka, Branimir Gazdik, on the 8th of September. On the 5th and 6th of September, Rijeka will also host the 7th KI Challenge International Adventure Race, and from the 11th to the 19th of September, the Home of Chess in Rijeka will host the 7th Mediterranean Chess Championship. At the end of the month, from the 23rd to the 27th of September, the 25th Nautica international boat show will be displayed on the Rijeka waterfront. In August and September, until the 1st of October, the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral presents exhibits from its own collection. In addition, Rijeka will host numerous exhibitions and various performances for young and old that will certainly make your stay in Rijeka, the nearby Opatija or other Kvarner resorts even more fulfilling.
For those who are planning a longer period of time ahead, let us say that the next International Rijeka Carnival, listed by the Sunday Times as one of the most attractive events in the world, will take place from the 17th of January to the 17th of February 2009.
