Rijeka – healthy town
Explore the sights of the town on attractive trails

A project to further revitalise Rijeka's existing walking trails and construct some attractive new ones has recently been started.  Rijeka, with its reputation for healthy living, aims to connect some of the town's most beautiful sights with its surrounding area. Once completed, this enjoyable walk will take four hours to explore the most important sights of the town.

Within the Rijeka Healthy City Project, the Town of Rijeka together with several alpine clubs from the local area continues to improve the walking trails in the Rijeka area that will connect all interesting sites of the town and its surroundings. The complete tour will be 11.5 long and will take approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes to walk.
The Rijeka Walking Trails Project is designed to connect the south-easternmost and north-westernmost points of the town area in a semicircular shape.
Individual parts of the trail are named after coastal plants, and the project includes the possibility of connecting to the trails of the neighbouring towns and municipalities.
The existing trails will be additionally marked and improved and made suitable for relaxation and recreation of Rijeka's inhabitants and visitors. Because they will be connected to the existing hiking trails, these trails will also be suitable for education about nature.
Apart from the existing trails, it is planned to construct several new ones. The most attractive of them will surely be the trail that will lead from the part of the town called Delta through the gorge of Rječina River to the bridge in Pašac in the Grobnik area.
River Rječina is one of the most beautiful coastal rivers in Croatia that features remnants of industrial mills that are now protected as cultural heritage.
