Opatija
Chocolate Festival to sweeten the month of December

For the fourth year in a row, Opatija will host a unique festival dedicated to the favourite confectionery of young and old – chocolate! This year's sweet chocolate days will last from the 4th to the 6th of December, inviting visitors to enjoy it with all senses.

From the 4th to the 6th of December, intoxicating scents of chocolate will be wafting across Opatija during the fourth Chocolate Festival. The organisers of this unique event have again prepared numerous attractions for chocolate lovers – from sampling various chocolate specialities to luxurious chocolate massages and a packed entertainment programme.
This event, which turns Opatija into Croatia's "sweetest destination", will again involve nearly all major entities in the town – from the Opatija tourism Office, which is the initiator of the Festival, to the hotels, which are preparing various chocolate surprises and sweet package holidays. On Saturday the 15th of December at noon on the dot, the Hotel Imperial will host the cutting of the "biggest chocolate cake" (11 metres), accompanied by the sound of the bells from the St. James's church. The cake will be sold at promotional prices.

It hardly needs mentioning that the classical menus and specialities offered in Opatija's restaurants and cafés during the Festival will be specially adapted to the tastes of chocolate.

The Chocolate Festival programme will also include performances and concerts by the youngest inhabitants of Opatija, and the students of the Opatija Catering School are preparing an interesting workshop about the production of chocolate-based sweets.
