Daily entertainment in the town of history and culture
To justify the town's image as a place of history and culture, the Town of Krk Tourism Office has prepared a packed calendar of events for the whole year ahead, bringing together entertainment, gastronomy, culture, history and local atmosphere to guarantee visitors a most enjoyable stay.
From Easter to the autumn, the town of Krk will host a series of interesting events almost on daily basis.
Since the tourist season traditionally starts at Easter, the first guests of the island will have the chance to take part in the first programme of this season – a walking tour dedicated to asparagus. This year, the tour follows the circular olive trail from the town of Krk via Muraj to Kornić and back. Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in the educational trail that follows the route through ancient olive groves, past traditional dry-stone structures (walls and mounds) to several interesting vantage points. The tour also includes sampling traditional specialities of the island – pršut dry-cured ham, sheep's milk cheese, bread from the wood-fired oven, olive oil and other original dishes. Visitors staying in the town will also have the chance to enjoy these delicacies during the Small Spring Exhibition of Original Products and Hiking Equipment. The latter will be interesting to all those who aim to take a Nordic walking tour of the island.
The end of April is the start of the Spring on Wheels project, which encompasses numerous tours of the island on bicycles, scooters and quads. Another interesting art project, entitled "Tales from Krk Forests", is also scheduled to start in that period.
The month of May will be particularly interesting to divers, because the second Scuba Fest – exhibition of diving equipment with additional entertainment programme – is scheduled for the 7th and 8th of May.
Another major event, the 9th Festival of ecology, ethnology and wine, will take place from the 21st to the 24th of May. This event is dedicated to the promotion of the local products, and this year the focus will be on wine as the most prominent souvenir. The month of June brings us the 1st international diving camp and the official opening of the bathing season.
The Town of Krk Tourism Office will organise numerous weekly performances of cultural associations, vocal singing groups, choirs and other artists on town streets and squares.
The programme will be continued throughout the main season even more intensively, when visitors will be able to choose from a variety of interesting events every day.
