Rijeka Carnival
New meeting scheduled for the 17th of January 2011!

The 27th Rijeka International Carnival is over, and the next year's event is already planned for the period from the 17th of January to the 9th of March 2011.

That there are "forces" even more powerful than the recession proved this year's International Carnival Parade in Rijeka, which did not lack joy or inspiration despite hard times. The parade, which is the highlight of the entire carnival, had approximately 8,000 participants in 94 groups and 73 floats. In addition to participants from Croatia, there were groups from Italy, Hungary, Slovenia and Montenegro. Along the route, which passed through Rijeka's main promenade, the Korzo, were seven stages. Several groups consisted of students from various student associations –AIESEC with students from Italy, Hungary and Slovenia, and AEGEE with students from Italy, Poland, Germany, Spain, Turkey and other European countries. A group called Kaprićošci consisted of young people from Turkey, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro, and the members of the group called PAR-NEPAR came from Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia.

The parade was attended by many prominent guests – ambassadors from numerous countries, and by many people from Kvarner and other parts of Croatia. For those who could not make it to Rijeka's Korzo, the parade was broadcast over the internet and had visitors from as many as 61 countries worldwide.

Next year, Rijeka International Carnival will take place from the 17th of January until the 9th of March. The Children Carnival Parade is scheduled for the 26th of February, and the International Carnival Parade for the 6th of March.
