Kvarner to welcome many visitors
During the Easter holidays, Kvarner will welcome over 14,000 visitors, who will account for over 50,000 overnight stays. Most of these visitors will stay in one of the 75 hotels that will open here for Easter, although some visitors have opted instead for private accommodation, campsites, holiday houses and marinas. This marks the official start of the busier tourist season.
The above data come from a poll conducted by the Kvarner County Tourism Office, although the hosts are hoping that the figures will be even better – particularly if one bears in mind the closeness of Kvarner to its most important target markets, the variety of the area's offer, and the ease with which visitors can now make last-minute bookings online.
According to the data provided by tourism companies, most visitors are expected on the Riviera Opatija – around 6,400. Approximately 30 hotels will be open for the holidays on the Riviera, of them 24 in the town of Opatija. Other parts of the region are also ready to welcome visitors: the islands of Krk and Lošinj, the Crikvenica Riviera, the island of Rab, the Rijeka area, and the wooded part of the region, Gorski kotar.
It is expected that most visitors will come from Germany, Italy, and Austria, and also from other parts of Croatia.
For the start of the most intense part of the season, which is traditionally marked by Easter holidays, Kvarner's tourism professionals have prepared a packed programme of events and festivities. The visitors will have the chance to enjoy traditional Easter meals, cakes, coloured Easter eggs, and many other delicacies of the region.
