Opatija's Open Air Theatre
Concert by the music diva Natalie Cole
On her first visit to Croatia, the great American music diva Natalie Cole will give a concert in Opatija on the 24th of July, as part of her 2010 European tour. Only in Croatia will she set a precedent and sing together with a local musician – the tenor Ivo Gamulin Gianni.
This summer, Zagreb Concert Direction and Star association will bring the music diva Natalie Cole for the first time to Croatia. Together with her band, she will give a concert on the 24th of July in Opatija. One day before, this Grammy winning artist will perform in Zadar.
The concert in Opatija will take place in the evening on the attractive Open Air Theatre. It is interesting to mention that the audience in Croatia will have the privilege to enjoy a concert with a guest performance by the great Croatian tenor Ivo Gamulin Gianni. Although she normally does not perform together with local artists within her European tour, Natalie Cole will make an exception here in Croatia. Her guest will be this excellent tenor, with whom she performed last year together with the renowned Italian musician Anna Oxa. Natalie Cole was so delighted about this performance, that she decided to sing a duet in Opatija.
During her successful career, Natalie Cole sold millions of records and won many prestigious awards – including nine Grammies and numerous other music awards.
Her first Grammy she won in 1975 at the beginning of her solo career. Before that, she was mostly known as the daughter of the unforgettable jazz legend Nat King Cole and Marie Cole, singer of the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
Natalie Cole began her career as a R'N'B vocal, but in the early 1990s she turned to pop and jazz, which brought her great success already in 1991, after recording the "Unforgettable, With Love" album, dedicated to her father.
She recorded numerous albums and many of her songs were among top chart hits. Her last album entitled "Still Unforgettable" was also rewarded with a Grammy.
The audience in Opatija will indeed have a rare opportunity to enjoy a concert by this great music diva in this part of Europe.
