The Summer on Cres festival this year again offers the visitors to this island a variety of events for all age groups and interests: cultural events, concerts, exhibitions and theatre performances. Theatre on Pjaceta Square, one of the town's several squares, will host attractive theatre play for children – Wolf and the Three Little pigs, Pizzaman, A Tree Has a Heart, Fairy Legends...
The evening programme will include a series of concerts in places across the island, such as Beli and Martinščica, a popular summer resort that will also host other events. The traditional entertainment and gastronomic event entitled Martinska Night will take place at the end of the month, on the 30th of July.
The festival starts on the 5th of July with a big event for children aimed at encouraging creativity, popularising Cres wool, and presenting the ways in which it can be used for
tourist purposes. Children will have the chance to learn what can be made of wool on various educational and creative workshops, and to learn more about the less known parts of the island's tradition. Two days later there will be the attractive Basket Tour, and the opening ceremony of the 21st Lubenice Musical Evenings in the picturesque locality of Lubenice is scheduled for the 9th of July. What makes this festival so special is the unique ambience of Lubenice – an ancient small stone town whose origins date back 4000 years ago. Lubenice is located on a high cliff, which gives this place a unique rural-rustic appearance that makes a lasting impression on every visitor. During the Lubenice Musical Evenings, there will be concerts every Friday until the 20th of August, reaching from the early renaissance music to modern classical music and folk melodies. The festival will include performances by klape vocal groups, folklore ensembles and renowned artists.
