Unique attraction near to Novi Vinodolski
The renovated glass chapel is ready for visitors

Soon after being discovered, the glass Chapel of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross – a unique architectural structure hidden in the forest, and located near Novi Vinodolski – has already been renovated and is now part of the Vinodol region’s tourism offer.

If you are somewhere near Novi Vinodolski, we recommend you search for a glass chapel. But no, this is not a fairy tale – this unique landmark is located in the hinterland of the Vinodol Riviera, more precisely in the village of Omar – Krmpote, which is part of the Novi Vinodolski administration.
We are talking about the glass chapel of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, which due to its unique structure represents a rare monument of sacred and architectural heritage. The chapel consists of a Secession-style metal construction with glassed façade and roof. Since it is located in a wooded area and has not been used for a long time, representatives of the Novi Vinodolski Tourism Office, the Kvarner County Tourism Office, the Croatian National Tourist Board, and the town and county authorities, decided to start a project of its renovation. As a result, the glass chapel will soon be part of the area’s tourism offer.
It is believed that this original sacred building was built at the beginning of the 20th century by the owner of this entire estate – Mr. Petar Krpan Samac. Since the chapel was frequently used at the time, a circular stone cistern with a well was added next to it and surrounded by a dry-stone wall.
Although it has not yet been completely renovated, the whole structure represents a sight well worth visiting, because it is a unique example of a sacred building of this kind. Indeed, conservators believe that the chapel of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is a rare example of such structure in the world.
