Kvarner's new visual branding
Listed among the world's best design achievements!

Since being presented on the international design scene, Kvarner's new visual identity has attracted many compliments: it has been published on the designboom.com website, highlighted in the Logolounge book, and displayed at the Brno 2010 International Biennial of Graphic Design.

Kvarner's new visual identity, based on the area's historical reputation as the meeting point of four major traffic routes, has recently received compliments by international designers. The new visual identity, developed by the Croatian design agency Bruketa&Žinić OM, has recently been published on designboom.com, one of the world's leading online publications for design and architecture. In addition, it was also chosen for publishing in Logolounge, one of the best-selling annual books by the renowned international publisher Rockport, specialised in the latest trends in visual identity design.
Kvarner's new visual identity was also displayed at the 24th International Biennial of Graphic Design in Brno, and presently it is displayed at the 2010 Croatian Design Exhibition in the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb.
Kvarner's new visual identity and slogan are based on the historical position of Kvarner at the intersection of four traffic routes. Since the name Kvarner itself implies this quadrilateral navigational and spatial orientation, the new visual identity starts with the recognisable symbol of a wind rose, which encompasses the concepts of navigation, four-sided spatial orientation, and the direction of winds. This symbol was the starting point for a more detailed elaboration of Kvarner's new logo: the wind rose was decomposed into simple geometrical visual elements whose shapes and colours now make a kind of a toolbox for the further development of the identity of the whole Kvarner region and its individual parts.
The idea of Kvarner's new visual identity and branding was initiated by the Kvarner County Tourism Office in 2009 in collaboration with the Croatian Designers Society. The concept developed by the creative team of the Bruketa&Žinić OM agency won the competition in the autumn of 2009. The recognition received by the international design experts is a proof that Kvarner has really got the best possible identity.
