Prestigious awards for Rab and Krk
Three of the seven awards made at the 12th PUT 2011 tourism fair were given to Kvarner's destinations – one to the town of Krk on the eponymous island, and two to the "best tourist destination among the Adriatic islands" – the island of Rab.
At the 12th PUT 2011 tourism fair, which took place late last year in Mali Lošinj under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, traditional Simply the Best annual awards were assigned by the Association of Croatian Travel Agencies and the Way to Croatia magazine. These prestigious awards were assigned in several categories, and the overall winner is the island of Rab, who won two important awards – one for the town of Rab as the best island destination on the Adriatic, and the other for the best small town hotel on the Adriatic islands – the Hotel Arbiana in Rab.
The best resort or hotel for family holidays is the Solaris Holiday Village in Šibenik, the winner of the small town hotel on the Adriatic coast category is the Hotel Park in Split, and the best cultural-historical attraction in inland Croatia is the Renaissance Festival in Koprivnica. The town of Krk and its traditional Summer Krk Fair won the award as the best cultural-historical attraction in the coastal part of Croatia.
The awards are assigned by tourism professionals and members of tourist agencies, many of which were present at the fair: 165 representatives from 103 companies – among them agencies, hotels, bars and restaurants, and tourism organisations from Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Macedonia.
