I love spring in the town of Krk
If you still haven't decided where to spend your Easter holidays, we would like to invite you to visit the town of Krk (on the island of the same name) for the event entitled "I love spring in Krk". On the 25th of April, visitors are invited to take a walk along the trails of the Golden Drops of Krk's Treasure and participate in the big Drobnica Fest olive festival.
"I love spring in the town of Krk" is the title of a programme that includes several attractive events that will start on Easter Monday (25th April) and continue throughout May in the town of Krk on the island of the same name. In addition to the traditional Easter offer, a rich breakfast and religious celebrations, visitors to Krk will also have the chance to participate in events dedicated to the local tradition of olive growing and producing high-quality olive oil – the golden drops that gave Krk the name of the "Golden Island".
The above mentioned event will also mark the official opening of a new educational trail called "On the Trail of Golden Drops of Krk's Treasure" that leads from the town of Krk to the village of Vrh and back.
On Easter Monday, a guided tour will start from Krk's
Vela placa square along this new 14-km-long trail. With several short breaks for refreshment with dried figs and traditional Krk cakes, the walk will last approximately five hours.
The trail is not demanding and leads past numerous olive groves with some ancient olive trees – some are thought to be even 300 years old! Along the tour, your guides will tell you something about the local tradition of olive growing, the quality of olive oil, and some basic characteristics of olives that grow here.
After returning to the town of Krk, visitors will be offered typical traditional refreshments at promotional prices, prepared with local ingredients – cheese, salted and marinated fish, wine, pršut dry-cured ham, and of course olives and olive oil. At the same time, members of the Drobnica Association will organise the Drobnica Fest olive festival that will include lectures about olives, sampling olive oil, and evaluating its quality.
