Island of Krk
May Day adventure

The atmosphere of spring and International Labour Day – could there be a better invitation for some true adventure? If you are planning a visit to the island of Krk, be prepared for adventures that include a race across the island on quad bikes, an exhibition dedicated to political absurdities, and a big party.

One day before the International Labour Day, the town of Krk on the island of the same name will be characterised by a festive atmosphere and high adrenaline levels. The traditional "Spring on Wheels" programme will again bring numerous lovers of bicycle and quad races to Krk. The programme, which was originally designed with the aim of promoting bicycle trails on the island, has over time become a true adrenaline adventure. The route, which leads along rural parts of the town, is ideal for bicycles, scooters and quads. These vehicles, very popular in Krk, can be bought or hired by many companies in the town. In collaboration with them, the town also organises the street fair of the above mentioned vehicles and equipment, which on this occasion can also be hired. The organisers have prepared one tour for scooters, and the other for bicycles and quads. Both tours start on Sunday the 1st of May and will not include competitions, but will only be aimed at promotion. The tours will include several breaks for sightseeing and refreshment, which means that they are suitable for drivers and cyclist with more or less experience.
After returning to the waterfront in Krk, the participants are invited to enjoy a rich entertainment programme, and another event scheduled for the same period – the May Day Incubator.
This musical and artistic event, which will also take place from the 30th of April to the 1st of May, is aimed at getting together and discussing interesting topics among musicians, painters and other enthusiasts from the region. The musical part of the event will include concerts on the Plav beach in Krk, and the part dedicated to painting will include an international seven-day exhibition in the Gallery Decumanus. The topic of this year's exhibition is quite intriguing: under the title "Political absurd", artists will remind of some actual political themes of the modern world.
Visitors who will stay Krk until the 6th of May will also have the chance to enjoy the "The Golden Island Sings 2011" festival of young singers of the island of Krk.
