Island of Lošinj
International meeting of capoeiristas

From the 1st to the 5th of July, more than 120 capoeiristas from Brazil and Europe will come to the island of Lošinj to demonstrate their skills in this traditional Brazilian art form that has been winning increasing attention around the world in recent years. The international meeting of capoeiristas will, among other interesting items, include performances by traditional musicians from Jamaica and Angola.

From the 1st to the 5th of July, Lošinj will play host to the international meeting of more than 120 young capoeiristas. The meeting, organised by the Capoeira Camarada association (the Croatian representative of the Marrom capoeira e alunos federation), will bring together young people from Brazil, Europe, Jamaica and Angola. In addition to capoeira, they will also present their traditional music. The aim of this meeting is to exchange knowledge and skills of this popular Brazilian folklore and its variants in other parts of the world. Capoeira Angola workshops will take place every day and will be open to the public. In the evening hours, visitors will have the opportunity to listen to the concerts of traditional African and Jamaican music.
In addition to taking part in the workshops, all the participants will also have the chance to learn more about Lošinj, because the programme includes several lectures about the cultural, historical and natural heritage of the island of Lošinj and the protected maritime zone of the islands of Cres and Lošinj. The practical part of the programme will include boat trips to the areas inhabited by dolphins.
