"Eat and Drink" in Vrbnik on the island of Krk
Festivals of wine and local specialities

From this year, three interesting summer food festivals on the island of Krk are being promoted under the name "Eat and Drink". Two of them have already taken place in July, while the third and last – the Krk Wine Festival – is scheduled for the 26th and 27th of August.

“Eat and drink” is the name of a series of summer food and wine festivals that take place in Vrbnik on the island of Krk. The first two of them, the Žlahtina Festival and the Šurlice Festival, already took place in July; the Krk Wine Festival is scheduled for the 26th and 27th of August.
Although each of these events is quite different from the other two, they all share the same goal – to promote Krk’s traditional dishes and the famous indigenous variety of wine, Vrbnička Žlahtina.
In July, visitors to Vrbnik had the chance to visit all wine cellars in the town, sample Žlahtina wine and savour some delicious specialities of the local area. One of these is the popular šurlice pasta, which was offered by all Vrbnik’s restaurant and taverns during the nine days of the event.
The forthcoming 8th Krk Wine Festival, which will take place on the 26th and 27th of August, is entirely dedicated to Vrbnik’s most famous product – Žlahtina wine, which made Vrbnik a famous tourist and gastronomic destination. In addition to wines produced by numerous local winemakers, the festival will include presentations of wines from other parts of Croatia and winemaking equipment, a series of wine samplings and lectures, and an entertainment programme.
