Rijeka's beaches
First dog beach and the new booklet "Rijeka's Beaches"

Visitors to Rijeka in September – a month many consider the best for swimming in the sea – will have at their disposal a new booklet for tourists entitled "Rijeka's Beaches". The publication is designed to help tourists choose the beach most suited to their needs. And the good news does not end here: dog owners too now have at their disposal a beach dedicated entirely to dogs!

You have come to Rijeka and don’t know where to go swimming in the sea? The choice is really great, and the new booklet "Rijeka's Beaches", which is available in the town's Info Centres and hotels, has been designed to help you find the best beach for you. If you are on a holiday with your pet, the good news is that Rijeka now has a dedicated dog beach, located east of the auxiliary football playground Kantrida, with a total area of ca. 500 square metres. The dog beach includes a sunbathing area, access to the water, waste bins, and showers with taps and a dog washing hose. The beach has rules that dog owners must observe. It is important to say that this is only a temporary dog beach: in the next years, the Rijeka city administration aims to provide two dog beaches – one in the western, and the other in the eastern part of the town.
The new booklet "Rijeka's Beaches", which has been published in two languages (English and Croatian) by the Rijeka Tourist Board, presents the locations and facilities of 20 beaches in the town. The booklet has been designed to provide information about the location of each individual beach, how to get there, and describe services and facilities offered on the beach and in the immediate surroundings.
Particularly worth mentioning are the beaches Ploče and Kostanj, which were awarded the Blue Flag.
