Olive Days in Punat on the island of Krk
Experience a part of the island's everyday life

Traditionally every October, the resort of Punat, located in the south of the island of Krk, receives many visitors from all across Europe interested in taking part in the olive harvest and enjoying the typical atmosphere of this island together with their hosts.

From the 1st to the 10th of October, the resort of Punat on the island of Krk will host the traditional Olive Days, an event that continues to attract many visitors from all over Europe who want to learn more about the island's tradition, taste various specialities made with olives, and take part in the harvest together with their hosts. This is not an easy task, but that's the charm of such an activity holiday, especially if we know that during the harvest you are in a good company, accompanied by music of the traditional Kvarner instruments (sopile) and singing. Of course, there will also be typical refreshment for all participants.

The entire event has been designed to present to the visitors various aspects of olives, their medicinal properties, and how they are harvested and processed. Visitors have the unique chance to become part of that tradition, and to sample a wide range of specialities prepared by chefs from all over Croatia. Many of these delicacies are completely new to the visitors, and is there a better enjoyment than savouring a meal for which you have made a personal contribution – by harvesting olives?

Punat is located in the south of the island of Krk and has long been known for its olive groves and the tradition that goes back for centuries. In addition, in the last two decades local people have significantly improved the quality of their plantations, renewed many old olive groves and planted numerous new ones, which resulted in an increased production of high-quality olive oil and its better quality. For this reason, olive oil from the island of Krk has become widely known even outside Croatia.
