Country rebel comes to Rijeka
Do not miss the great Dale Watson

Dale Watson, one of the very last orthodox country musicians, is coming to Rijeka as part of his European tour. On January 21, he will give a concert in Stereo Dvorana to present several of his hits and promote his new album "The Sun Sessions".

After decades of musical career, the great American country star Dale Watson comes for the first time to Rijeka where he will give a concert on January 21 in the Stereo Dvorana club. Country lovers will surely be delighted, because Watson is one of the last great names of the true, original country. Over the last twenty years, country has changed quite a lot, the style became commercialised, and the scene became overwhelmed with non-original country sound. But this 50-year-old musician remained faithful to the old, original country.

Although he was born in Alabama, and spent part of his life in California, Watson found his home in the birthplace of country – in Austin, Texas, where he has lived since 1990s. Because Texas is the cradle of country, in Austin there is still a very strong alter-country scene, supported by Dale Watson. In Austin Watson recorded several great albums – "Cheatin' Heart Attack", "Blessed or Damned", "I Hate These Songs" and "The Truckin' Sessions". His songs remind of great country musicians such as Johnny Cash, Lefty Frizzell, Buck Owens, or Merle Haggard. Unfortunately, after that Watson's happy period of life came to an end. After death of his fiancée, he was quite a long on the brink of life and death. He sought comfort in alcohol and drugs, and it took a long time before he could return to life and making music. After many years, music brought him back to life. The best proof that he is on the right track is his latest album with as many as 14 new songs, recorded in the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis. The entire project is dedicated to the legends of rock'n'roll Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and Carl Perkins.
