3rd Tango con las Estrellas Festival, Opatija
Perfect your tango skills with professional dancers

For the third year in a row, Opatija's Tango con las Estrellas Festival will be dominated by the renowned dancing couple of professional tango dancers and instructors, Carolina Bonaventura and Francisco Forquera. From 10 to 12 February, the pair will be conducting three-day workshops of tango, vals, and milonga.

For the third time in a row, Carolina Bonaventura and Francisco Forquera, professional tango dancers and teachers from Argentina, start their new European tour with the Tango con las Estrellas festival in Opatija. This three-day event will take place in Opatija's Hotel Bristol from 10 to 12 February and will include numerous practical workshops aimed both at beginners and those who want to improve their dancing skills in Opatija.
In addition to the two teachers, the workshops will be attended by renowned Croatian dancing professionals, founders of Opatija's Tango del Mar association and dance centre, which is the organiser of this festival.
For the duration of the festival, the participants will have the opportunity to choose among several workshops, such as technique for men or women, tango salon, stage tango, milonga, vals, or professional development. The atmosphere will be further enhanced by numerous guest musicians.
Last year, the festival attracted ca. two hundred participants from Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary and Italy who chose to learn their first tango steps or to improve their dancing skills with the help of the renowned stars. Carolina Bonaventura and Francisco Forquera have been professionally involved in dancing for 17 years and have performed as dancers, teachers, choreographers and directors all over the world. One of their students is the initiator of the above-mentioned Opatija dance centre.
If you like tango, milonga or vals, this is an ideal chance to learn more – from basic steps to professional tips and tricks for the dance floor.
The workshops will take place in the afternoons, and the evenings are reserved for dance shows with DJs.
Since tango has already intrigued many people on Kvarner, in January the Tango del Mar association organised the "Argentine Tango Open Days" as an overture to the festival – free workshops for beginners on the Nina ship, which is moored in the Rijeka harbour. The response was excellent, and the organisers expect the same atmosphere during the Tango Festival.
