Croatia's oldest hotel joins the Marriott hotel chain
After its renovation starting this autumn, the Hotel Kvarner, one of the leading symbols of Opatija’s tourism, will join the Marriott hotel chain, thus ensuring a prosperous future for this hotel with a glamorous 120-year tradition.
The Marriott hotel chain is interested in further development of its hotel brand in Opatija, on the basis of a hotel management contract. According to Mr Kristijan Staničić M.Sc., chairman of the Liburnia Riviera Hotel Company (which owns the Hotel Kvarner), the next step is the writing of the letter of intent that should define the commercial conditions of the hotel management contract, and development of the feasibility study, which will be the basis for the investment project.
The expected management of the Hotel Kvarner by the Marriott Company is an important step not only for this property, but also for Opatija and the whole of Croatia, because it will be the first hotel in the country to be managed by this renowned hotel chain. Today, Marriott manages more than 3,000 hotels and 520,000 rooms worldwide.
The renovation of the Hotel Kvarner, which has been in business for more than 120 years now, is scheduled to start this November and will be supervised by the watchful eye of restorers, because the property is under a special protection regime.
